Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 September 2026

1. About this policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Booknium (“Booknium”, “we”, “us”) intends to collect, use, and share information when you visit https://booknium.com, create an account, or use the Booknium reading app and related websites.

2. Who we are

Booknium is operated by Cilicias Alchemy Pty Ltd (Australia). Booknium is a reading product that helps people organise a library, discover books, and build a personal reading world. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@booknium.com.

3. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Booknium, we may collect account details you provide (email, display name, password stored by our identity provider); library and reading data you add; membership status assigned by our servers, including Founding 100 status when our servers assign it; technical information such as device type, browser, and app version; and payment-related metadata if you later purchase a subscription (processed by our payment provider). We do not require Amazon, Kindle, or Goodreads passwords.

4. Accounts

When you create a Booknium account we use a production identity host to authenticate you. Where email delivery is configured and available, Booknium may send account-related messages such as email confirmation or password-reset instructions. If email delivery is not configured, those messages may be unavailable. Your account is used to restore your profile and (when cloud features are enabled) library data across devices.

5. How we use information

We use information to provide Booknium, secure your account, operate your library and reading world, communicate about your account, and improve reliability. Where Founding 100 places are offered, we use information to allocate those places on the server and to display a public count of claimed places without showing your name or email. We do not sell your reading library as a marketing list.

6. Third-party services

Booknium relies on identity and database hosting (currently Supabase), website hosting (currently Firebase Hosting), book metadata sources such as Open Library, and payment processing (Stripe) if you purchase a paid plan. Where email delivery is configured, a mail provider may be used to send account-related messages. Optional AI providers may process data when those features are enabled.

7. Affiliate links

Booknium may include affiliate links to retailers. If you follow an affiliate link and later purchase something, we may earn a commission. See the Affiliate Disclosure.

8. Payments and subscriptions

Paid Booknium plans, when offered, are billed through a payment provider. Card details are handled by that provider. Founding 100 membership, where offered, is a free programme and does not require a card.

9. User content

Notes, highlights, reviews, shelves, and similar material you add are your content. We store them to provide the product to you.

10. Children

The public Booknium experience described on the website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through that experience. Separate Booknium Kids / family experiences, if offered later, will be described with their own appropriate notices. Contact privacy@booknium.com if you believe a child has created an account.

11. Retention and security

We keep account and library data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards if needed for security, backups, or legal reasons.

12. Your choices

You may update profile details where the product allows, contact us for account assistance (including password help — email-based reset is available only when email delivery is configured), export available library data where that feature exists, and request deletion of your account.
