Terms of Use

Last updated: 23 September 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use govern access to Booknium websites, apps, and related services at https://booknium.com. By creating an account or using Booknium, you agree to these terms.

2. The service

Booknium is a reading product for organising a library, discovering books, and building a personal reading world. Features may change as the product develops.

3. Operator

Booknium is operated by Cilicias Alchemy Pty Ltd (Australia).

4. Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a contract in your country to use Booknium. You are responsible for your account details and password. You must confirm your email when asked and complete password recovery only through official Booknium links. Contact support@booknium.com if you believe your account has been misused.

5. Founding 100

The Founding 100 programme provides All Access free for life to up to 100 readers who are invited to participate and successfully claim a Founding Member place. Places are allocated and recorded by Booknium’s systems, with a maximum of 100 Founding Member places. Each successfully claimed place is assigned to one eligible account and cannot be duplicated or transferred between accounts unless Booknium expressly permits this.

Founding 100 membership is separate from participation in the Booknium beta. Being a Beta Reader, requesting beta access, joining a waiting list, or receiving beta access does not automatically make you a Founding Member.

Founding 100 membership is not equity, an investment, or ownership in Booknium or Cilicias Alchemy Pty Ltd.

6. Subscriptions and payments

Paid plans may be offered. Payments are processed by our payment provider. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. Access generally continues until the end of the paid period. Refunds, if any, follow the payment provider, the app store if you purchased there, and applicable consumer law (including Australian Consumer Law where it applies). These terms do not limit non-excludable consumer guarantees. Founding 100 claims do not require payment.

7. User content

You retain rights in notes, reviews, shelves, and other content you add. You grant Booknium a limited licence to host and display that content as needed to operate the service.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse Booknium, including by attempting to break authentication, interfere with Founding 100 allocation, or use the product to infringe copyright. Booknium does not provide pirated books.

9. Affiliate links

Some links may be affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you where that is accurate. Retailers are responsible for their checkout, shipping, pricing, and returns. See the Affiliate Disclosure.

10. Third-party services

Booknium may integrate identity, hosting, book metadata, payments, and optional AI providers. Where email delivery is configured, a mail provider may also be used. Your use of those services may also be governed by their terms.

11. Intellectual property

Booknium, the Booknium name, and the product design are owned by Booknium or its licensors.

12. Disclaimers

Booknium is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis during development and beta. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded by law.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Booknium is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, except where liability cannot be limited.
